Nigel Spurgeon is a registered Clinical Psychologist and director of Cambridge Psychology. He is a member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS) and the APS College of Clinical Psychologists. Nigel holds a Master of Psychology Degree (Clinical and Health) from Curtin University of Technology.

Nigel has an integrated perspective to psychotherapy. He has pursued additional training in Schema Focussed Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Interpersonal Psychotherapy, neurobiological based psychotherapy, Emotion Focussed Couple Therapy and trauma focussed therapies (e.g. EMDR, CRM). Nigel is a fully accredited board approved supervisor with the Psychology Board of Western Australia.

Prior to moving to Perth in 2010, Nigel’s 20 years of psychotherapy experience has included 10 years in private practice in Albany Western Australia, working for the Health and Justice Departments in WA, and working with complex dual diagnosis patients in the UK. Nigel has been working with Cambridge Psychology (previously Abbotsford Psychology) for the past seven years. As well as his private practice at Cambridge Psychology, Nigel facilitates groups at Abbotsford Private Hospital in the intensive and inpatient programs.

Nigel enjoys working with a range of issues including addictions (e.g. alcohol, drug, gambling, sex) anxiety and depression, sexual issues, relationship difficulties, and complex dual diagnoses (e.g. personality disorder with addiction). Nigel frequently works with family members or couples affected by addiction. Nigel is happy to discuss your issues with you and collaboratively work out a therapy plan.
